Artist: YE HOON WEI
Born in 1963 in the city of Dongguan, Guangdong province, in southern China, Ye studied art at the Guangzhou Art Institute. He was graduated in 2005 and specialized in oil painting. Ye established his own art studio in the same year which opened a new chapter in life as a professional artist.
Ye's studio is located in the scenic river village of Xiao Zhou Cun on the south side of Guangzhou city. Xiao Zhou Cun has a long history and can be traced back to the Sung Dynasty (960 AD -1279 AD). Occupying an ancient accessorial hall which was built in the 18th century, the studio itself is more than a work place – it is a shrine, a birth place and cradle of Chinese contemporary art.
In the past decade, Ye's paintings have won many honors and awards, among them: 'The Enlarged Glove', ‘The Pumpkin’ and 'The Ceramic Horse' are highly praised and treasured by collectors and the National Archives Museum.
Ye's paintings protrude fine, delicate details of objects which, normally neglected by the naked eyes. The depth of the profile reveals vivid clue of the past glory of the object and always … more.
Apart from painting, Ye lectures art students on Sunday and plays the guitar in his leisure hours.
