Born in 1965 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, Lin studied at the Sculpture Department of the National Art Academy in 1993. He continued to study oil painting at the National Art Research Institute in 2002. Subsequently, Lin was hired by the National Art Research Institute as a researcher on sculpture in 2010.

     During the period from 2003 to 2015, Lin had participated in 9 major exhibitions in China and abroad including France, London, Germany, Italy and Hong Kong.
     Lin is also a writer. Through the years up to 2015, he had published more than fifteen titles on oil painting, contemporary art, Chinese painting and art research subjects.
