Li is from Sichuan province. He is a contemporary artist with traditional Chinese ink wash painting skill. After graduated from Sichuan Art Academy in 1988, Li devoted his time on religious painting and with a special focus on Buddhism artifacts.
Li wants to convey the doctrine of Buddhism in his paintings which would project a sense of modernity. He used to say, ”Buddhism is not just history – it is the present and the future.”
Whenever time is allowed, Li would teach art at various universities and art colleges in China.
In 2006, Li was the one and only painter being chosen to join a cultural exchange group organized by the Government of The Peoples’ Republic of China and the Indian government.
In the past decade, he had also participated in many religious, cultural and art exchange expeditions in Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
