Li was born in 1966 in Wuhan city, Hubei province. He was graduated from the Hubei Art Academy in 1987. Li continued to study Chinese ink wash painting at the academy and finally completed his training course in 1993.
In August 2010, Li had the chance to visit New York and he spent about one year at the Alfred University to research on art and design.
At present, he is an Associate Professor and teaching art at the College of Art and Design, Wuhan Textile University.
Li’s ink wash paintings are purely traditional Chinese, while the content and expressions are full of universal imagination. Li used to say, “We are living in an explosive information age and preoccupied by all sorts of electronic gears and the internet. We have lost sight of our mountains and rivers. At the end of the day, we should rethink about what we actually want in life.”
