Nan Nan was born in 1989 in Yim Zhou city, Guangxi province. Yim Zhou is located very close to the seafront city of Beihai. Actually, the ancestors of Nan Nan were natives of Beihai, the popular tourist destination overlooking the South China Sea. That is why people will find many of Nan Nan’s works of art are themed by ships, vessels and barges floating on the water.
After graduated from Guangxi Art Institute, Nan Nan continued to improve his skill in oil painting and learn from Chinese oil painting masters whom practiced oil painting in Russia and came back to China a few decades ago.
As an exchange student, he visited and studied in Italy in 2013 and Russia in 2015. It was also in 2015 Nan Nan obtained a Master Degree in Art from Guangxi Art Institute. He has developed his own style in oil painting and over the years, Nan Nan had collected a number of major awards and honors as a young artist.
In 2014, Nan Nan presented a paper titled “The influence of traditional Chinese paintings on contemporary art in China.” This research paper vividly exposed the fundamentals of Chinese modern art and its future route paths.
Apart from painting, Nan Nan also has a strong interest and skill in ceramic and pottery art, which he proudly said, “We are living in a 5D world. Aren’t we?”
